Western Region Health Centre
Six Degrees was engaged by WHRC (Western Region Health Centre) to design their new mental health facility and administration offices within a collection of rundown buildings in Footscray. The aim was to provide ‘best practice’ outcomes to both patients and staff by creating a welcoming, fresh and functional environment.
The mental health facility is positioned next door to an existing health centre but the intention was for no public crossover between the two – keeping patients with drug dependency issues and patients with mental health issues separate – to better meet the needs of each group.
The design achieves this patient separation while joining the two buildings in the admin staff areas on the first floor. This created a better place for social connection, support and functionality.
