This six-storey, 22-unit, carbon-neutral apartment building—just 100 metres from South Melbourne Market—is gas-free and runs on 100% renewable energy, with an average NatHERS rating of 8.6. Shared rooftop solar panels, double-glazed windows, and an east-west orientation maximise natural light and cross-ventilation, reducing the need for heating and cooling.

Open walkways connect neighbours, while a rooftop garden with a barbecue and fireplace provides a shared outdoor space. The design fosters a sense of community and positively contributes to the wider precinct.

Ferrars & York has been recognised by the Victorian state government as a model for future housing, highlighting how sustainability, liveability and good design can be integrated into new developments.
